Mill Street Barracks is a haven for ghost hunters all around the country, and its not really surprising when you consider some of the paranormal experiences that have taken place at this location.

Ghosts of Mill Street Barracks

There have been many reported sightings of a male spirit who resides on the upper level of the barracks. Be careful ladies as he seems to particularly interested in interacting with females.

Amidst the chaos of battle, tales emerged of spectral figures haunting the barracks, believed to be the restless souls of fallen soldiers seeking refuge in familiar surroundings.

Children are often heard and are well known to interact as they appear to like the attention and the sound of a weeping girl is often heard but little is known about her. Who is she?

History

Mill Street Barracks was built in the mid 1800’s and has many levels to its history. The barracks as it would suggest, has, in the past, been accommodation for the armed forces being a cornerstone of Liverpool’s military history, it was established in 1802 during the Napoleonic Wars to accommodate British troops. During World War I, the barracks served as a training ground for soldiers who were bound for the Western Front. It also became a hub for recruitment, with many eager volunteers flooding the gates eager to join the war effort.

It was also used as a morgue during the World Wars and has links with the local church and nunnery.
