Ripon Workhouse
Ripon Workhouse, Allhallowgate, Ripon is a Grade II listed, 18th Century workhouse. The poorhouse has stood on the site since 1776, but the original building was later replaced in 1854 to meet the standards of The Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. It’s now used as a museum and shows how the inmates lived, worked and sadly died. This gives the workhouse a dark and gloomy feel.
Ripon Workhouse, like all workhouses became a last resort for poor, homeless and destitute people, that were unable to find work to support themselves and their families. Many who entered the gates to work, knew that sadly the only way they would be leaving the workhouse, was in a coffin.
The building supported 33 inmates, which included 11 men, 11 boys, 9 woman and 2 girls. Those considered able-bodied spent eight hours each day breaking rocks to repairs roads.

There are many different spirits that have been reported at Ripon Workhouse.
Poltergeist activity is rife in this dark and gloomy location. Visitors to the museum feel as though they are being followed as the entities make themselves known and dark mists and shadows are often seen with many people refusing to go into certain areas alone.

👻👻Working alongside the team you will split in to small groups to work through the building in group sessions using both tradition and scientific methods of investigation such as table tipping, ouija boards, evp sessions with the intention of interacting with the spirits that reputedly haunt the building.👻👻

👻👻Hot drinks, bottled water, biscuits and snacks provided.👻👻

👻👻There are toilets on site👻👻

👻👻Strictly No Alcohol or drugs👻👻

👻👻Sorry no under 18’s or pregnant women allowed👻👻

👻👻No smoking or Vaping within the building, a designated site will be highlighted to those that require it👻👻

👻👻Please wear warm clothing and sensible footwear and bring your own torch👻👻

👻👻All areas are accessible for disabled visitors 👻👻

👻👻 This is NOT a sleepover event therefore you will be required to stay awake for the duration👻👻
